As one last winter storm threatens Delaware, we’re still excited to start sharing spring-related articles and green tips. This month our Twitter followers led us to an interesting article on berkeleyside.com, about Sharon Gamson Danks, an urban planner who believes in edible, eco-education.
Danks is currently traveling the world researching her new book, “Asphalt to Ecosystems: Design Ideas for Schoolyard Transformation.” She has visited over 200 green schoolyards and parks in North America, Europe, Great Britain, and Japan. Her tour has brought her to two conclusions.
First, the U.S. is a world leader in school food gardens. And, two, the U.S. lags behind other countries when it comes to building green schoolyards with ecofriendly aspects beyond a produce patch.
